Red Hook Crit day 3 at last chance race. Strong finish Bryan!!
Men’s and women’s qualifiers
We meet up Homebike dudes from Korea, started exploring Brooklyn, getting coffees at 3 different spots(OSLO, The Birch, Whynot Coffee) and eating burgers and ramen. This is my favorite time, everytime i visit NY for Red Hook Crit, chill ride and sightseeing. Brooklyn is very attractive city in NY. I wish we have that many good coffee spot in CA.
2017 RHC trip Day 1
My flight got delayed an hour, my uber delayed an hour but still make it to the Deluxe Cycles x Cadence RHC pre-party in Brooklyn. It was very tough day yet it was great to see friends from NY. Also big kudos to Deluxe Cycles who fixed my E11 cross bike from geared to single speed. After the party, we came home, grab a sandwich from random deli. After i had one bottle of beer, i knocked out completely.
I think this was the biggest women’s field on fixed crit I’ve ever seen since i started cycling, that means there’re more women racers attended Red Hook Crit this year than last year. It’s amazing to see how fast female racers growing every year, which is good news for all of us. And yes! Asia and Jessy quailed for women’s final.
Last time I met the Korean gang was last November when i visited Korea. They run a bike shop named HOME BIKE in Korea and those two, Sei Haeng and Duck Ho are race-holics. This time, they flew over to US to attend the biggest fixed gear criterium in the world. I had no doubt that they had epic experience while their trip here. Can’t wait to see them in winter.
It’s been a year since I traveled to Brooklyn NY for Red Hook Crit last year. I could’ve not make this trip due to my back surgery on January, but here I am, made another epic trip to NY with the team.
It was glad to see local friends at Red Hook Crit. Even qualifier game looked fast.
So, it was first time for me to came to see Red Hook Crit. To be honest, I’ve never seen this big fixed gear race event before. It is beyond what I was expecting to see. It is amazing how they control tons of people registering and organize for qualifiers. Can’t believe that people flew from different state and different countries to attend this event. I would say, Red Hook Crit definitely changed fixed gear game to another level. I’m glad to came out to see all this by my own eyes.
A day before Red Hook Crit, I was riding with Bud and Asia to check out some bike shops around and feel New York. Also Chrome x Cinelli preparty was fun. I didn’t know there’re this many cyclists live in New York. Next time, I will bring my cyclocross bike here to get more comfortable xb.
